Aluminium is a lightweight, corrosion resistant metal that has many uses, including aircraft production, construction, packaging, automobile and railroad car manufacturing. It is the most abundant metallic element in the earth’s crust and one of the most heavily produced and consumed metals in the world. As a result of its popularity, the New York Mercantile Exchange has made available a London primary aluminium futures contract to provide price transparency for this accommodating metal.
The London primary aluminium futures contract is traded solely on the CME Globex® electronic trading system. The size of each contract is 10 metric tons, which trades in British measurements, and prices are quoted in U.S. dollars and cents per ton.
The contract is cash settled, and the final settlement price is the floating price calculated for each contract month. |
