About NEON

Q: What is NEON?
A: NEON stands for NYMEX Electronic Order Network which is a FIX 4.2 gateway to submit orders electronically to the Exchange. NEON delivers orders to the NYMEX and COMEX open-outcry trading floors, NYMEX ClearPort® Trading and NYMEX ACCESS® products.


Q: How can NEON be implemented?
A: FCMs or trading firms can develop to the Exchange directly or use a certified Independent Software Vendor (ISV). ISVs wishing to develop to the Exchange, will need to be sponsored by a NYMEX Division or COMEX Division Clearing Member


Q: Can an FCM or trading firm be certified to trade only one of the NYMEX/COMEX markets?
A: Yes, a firm can submit orders to the market of choice.


Q: Where can a developer obtain documentation on NEON?

A: The Developer's Dashboard site, https://www.services.nymex.com/ddash/ makes available information for developing, testing and certification of the delivery of orders to the NYMEX testing environment.


Q: How do FCMs and trading firms gain access to NEON?
A: 1. Register for Cleaportsm Trading and/or NEON (firm order management) link, http://www.nymex.com/cp_start.aspx.

2. For the open-outcry markets, firms must designate:
  • NEON Firm Admin(s)
  • NEON Firm Trader(s)
  • NEON Firm Target(s) (Floor Broker booth destination)


Q: How do Floor Brokers enable NEON and receive the hardware for the booths?

A: Registration forms are available at the Telecom Help Desk on the NYMEX and the COMEX trading floors. The registration forms include:
  • NEON Firm Booth(s)
  • NEON Broker(s)
  • NEON Clerk(s)
